The College Board is going to offer the 2017 AP Summer Workshop in China, to be held at Shanghai Southwest Weiyu Middle School, Shanghai, China on August 14-18, 2017.
AP Summer Workshop is an intensive five-day AP teacher training program designed to prepare teachers for the College Board's AP Curriculum. Participants will gain experience with the concepts and goals of AP courses and their corresponding exams. The workshop will address curriculum, pedagogy and technology as supported by the College Board standards. It is suitable for both new and experienced AP teachers to receive a condensed AP curricular and teaching education. Each session will be led by College Board-certified AP consultants specially invited from the U.S. and will provide participants with the experiences necessary to successfully teach an AP course in their discipline. They will share their expertise in AP and first-hand AP teaching experience with the participants. Individuals completing ALL the five-day class sessions will receive a certificate of completion which will be given out on the last day or mailed after the institute ends.
The participants will be able to apply concrete strategies for designing and implementing an effective AP curriculum in their discipline; develop activities and assessments that engage students in critical thinking; implement strategies to effectively prepare students for the AP exam and develop or revise a syllabus to align with course requirements and complete the course audit.
